Tarım Orman-İş Trade Union which joined to Öz Orman-İş Trade Union in 2008 was founded by 7 laborers who have worked in the sector number 1, on July 22, 2003 as an independent trade union in Ankara. Tarım Orman-İş took the decision of affiliation to Hak-İş Confederation at the First Ordinary General Assembly. The affiliation request was approved by Hak-iş.

After the participation to Hak-İş, Tarım Orman-İş that rapidly maintained the organizational works and reached the majority of members required to make collective bargaining agreements at 217 directorates which are the parts of the Ministry of Environment and Forests and General Directorate of Forestry, 81 Provincial Directorates of Environment and Forests and the directorates and workplaces which are connected to Ministry. Afterwards, Tarım Orman-İş has appealed to Labor and Social Security Ministry in order to request authorization on September 3, 2004. On September 16, 2004 Tarım Orman-İş was designated as the authorized trade union for the related workplaces by Ministry of Labor. However, because of an appeal case that was litigated by another trade union, the collective bargaining agreement was concluded 4.5 years after taking the authorization.

Öz Orman-İş Trade Union was founded on April 15, 2008 in Ankara. On May 3, 2008 Tarım Orman-iş Trade Union took the decision of joining to Öz Orman-İş Trade Union at the Extraordinary General Assembly. Within the same day, at the First Ordinary General Assembly of Öz Orman-İş Trade Union, this involvement was approved. In this manner these two trade unions merged under the roof of Öz Orman-İş Trade Union. After the merger, according to the decision of Supreme Court of Appeals, the authorization of collective bargaining agreement that comprises the laborers who work in the workplaces that are connected to the Ministry of Environment and Forests and General Directorate of Forestry, was given to Öz Orman-İş Trade Union. Collective bargaining agreement was signed on March 3, 2009.

According to the July 2009 statistics of Labor and Social Security Ministry, the number of members of Öz Orman-İş Trade Union is 25.125.
